Green Reporting: Combating Global Deforestation: The EUDR Regulation: New Challenges and Opportunities
Faced with dynamic changes in global supply chains and growing environmental demands, the European Commission has introduced a groundbreaking and ambitious solution that will change the rules of the game in international trade: the EUDR – an EU law aimed at eliminating products linked to deforestation from the EU market.
Green Reporting: Carbon Tax in Europe, or the CBAM Regulation
CBAM, introduced by the European Union on 1 October 2023 as part of the "Fit for 55" package, is the world's first carbon tax aimed at levelling the competitiveness between producers operating in the EU, who have been paying emissions costs under the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) for years, and producers from third countries with less stringent climate regulations.
CBAM in the EU - new guidelines according to the Omnibus package
With the intensification of EU climate policy and growing ambitions for carbon neutrality, the European Commission is implementing the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), a tool that radically changes the rules of the game for imports of high-emission materials, including stainless steel and aluminum. Its goal is to reduce carbon leakage—the shifting of production outside the EU to countries with less stringent climate regulations. For many companies, this means not only adapting to new obligations but also rethinking their operating models.

INTERVIEWS
Is sustainable trade profitable?
New regulations like CBAM, EUDR, and digital product passports are redefining how businesses are run. Entrepreneurs must report hundreds of pieces of data on CO₂ emissions, the origin of raw materials, and work ethics across the entire supply chain. This is a huge organizational challenge that requires a new approach, process automation, and investment in technology. "By supporting companies in interpreting regulations and translating them into practical actions, we see the enormous potential of properly designed processes," emphasizes Żurawiecka. Such support allows businesses not only to minimize regulatory risk but also to build an advantage in relationships with partners and investors. Sustainable trade is no longer just a response to EU requirements; it is becoming a part of the strategy of companies that want to grow, compete globally, and build businesses that are resilient to future challenges, while also investing in a better "tomorrow."
Sustainable trade – a costly challenge or an opportunity to build a competitive advantage?
EU environmental and ethical regulations are revolutionizing global trade, forcing companies to collect data, report, and verify their supply chains. "This is not only a necessity, but above all, a strategic path to strengthening market position and building a sustainable competitive advantage," emphasizes Anna Żurawiecka, president of Green Reporting.
